Harderwijk was surprising.
Harderwijk was surprising. I hadn't visited the city for decades so I was pleasantly surprised of the transformation of the small lakeside town. The waterside is absolutely gorgeous and a perfect place to enjoy the sunset. The food choices are plentiful and there are enough terraces to chose from. If you like water, take a guided tour through the canals and lake, like the one from the windmill. We visited in september and the city was still lively partly because of the wonderful weather. A small old, also hanseatic village with lots of small streets and alleys. Very cosy and nice. Has a beach (on the "river"/sea) with plenty of restaurants etc etc for tourists. But I would guess it's a bit empty in wintertime. I spent a day there, which I think was enough. As it was in August and a Saturday they had a (free) market day with concerts in the main square in the night. Very very crowded and buzzing. Very amusing.Pata_NegraSweden

Parking free, 5 min walk but can unload outside hotel. Breakfast choice was good ( but expensive). Restaurant and bar lively with typical Italian menu. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was good and clean, bathroom modern and large with massive deep bath and walk in rain shower. Tea & Coffee facilities, free water in mini bar. Good aircon and heating.

The design, the comfort, the views and the sauna make you want to stay in the house and not leave. However, the old city of Harderwijk which is just a short walk from the house is a must see. The location of the house is also convenient for driving to Giethoorn and Elburg. Yaap has personally provided a tour and operating instructions.
